David M. Oddo
DAVID M. ODDO, is a prominent New York City trial attorney who has represented clients in a number of high profile civil and criminal cases throughout New York State. He was named to New York’s 2021 Metro Super Lawyers list, an honor reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice with only five percent of attorneys in the New York Metro area receiving this distinction. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a distinction given to less than one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. According to TopVerdict.com, Mr. Oddo obtained the highest medical malpractice settlement in New York State in 2020 (15 million dollars for a client who sustained severe and permanent injuries as the result of a misdiagnosed stroke) and has been featured in Top 100 Magazine in 2020 and 2021, as well as being highlighted in Top Lawyers Northeast and Top Lawyers New York, by Arrive Magazine in 2011. Mr. Oddo is a Past President, of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) and was named to City and State Magazine’s 50 Over 50 list of distinguished and impactful New Yorkers (2018 and 2019). In 2018, City and State Magazine named Mr. Oddo to its Law Power 50 List, recognizing the most influential lawyers in New York State. He is the author of the book, Medical Malpractice and Wrongful Death: Answers to Tough Questions That Can Arise in Your Case, Jacobs & Whitehall, 2021, and is the host of the legal podcast, The Trial Brief, available on all of the major platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Mr. Oddo also serves as a lecturer to the profession on topics concerning trial practice, medical malpractice, the economist’s role in trial preparation and presentation, as well as the role and function of the U.S. Civil Justice System. Mr. Oddo is a former state prosecutor, serving in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office from 1989-1993. He has been a contributing editor for The Hill and has published Op-eds on civil justice issues in various newspapers across the state. He also enjoys the highest ranking of 10 from AVVO. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Association of Justice, New York State Bar Association, Bronx County Bar Association and the New York County Lawyer’s Association, as well as a number of other local bar associations. He was admitted to the New York State and Connecticut State Bar in 1990, and he is also admitted to practice in the Federal Courts of the United States District Courts, for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (1993). In May 2016, Mr. Oddo was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
